A two-day (consecutive) training and mentoring course introducing novice riders to critical aspects of riding including off-road sessions on basic riding skills, motorcycle operation, road-craft tactics, riding gear, motorcycle knowledge, manoeuvring skills, steering and cornering, emergency braking, safe riding strategies and an on-road assessment. Participants must have completed the current MOTOR CYCLE Road Rules Knowledge Test prior to booking for the course.

LEARNER LICENCE COURSE:
2-Wheeled Motor Cycles Only
The course includes classroom theory sessions, on the riding range demonstrations and instructions, on-road assessment during the 2 days.
The following aspects will be addressed: Performing pre-ride safety inspections, Locating and operating motorcycle controls, Right and left turns, Motorcycle control and balance at low speed, Gear changing, Braking, Road craft.
In order to progress with the Pre-Learner Motorcycle Course day two training and assessment, a participant must successfully complete the on-range component of the assessment in order to undertake the on-road component. These assessments are conducted at the end of Pre-Learner Motorcycle Course day two.
If a participant fails the assessment (on-range or on-road) they must repeat the whole Pre-Learner Motorcycle Course day two and pass the associated assessment ideally within one month from the training commencement day.
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be informed what they need to do at Service Tas to apply for their Learner Licence.
Entry Requirements
1. You must be at least 16 years and 5 months of age.
2. Participants must have completed the current MOTOR CYCLE Road Rules Knowledge Test prior to booking for the course.
3. Participants must successfully complete Day 1 to continue to Day 2.
4. Participants must not have a suspended Licence and must provide proof of photo ID on Day 1.
Safety: You must have ‘full skin coverage” ie long pants, long sleeve shirt or jacket and sturdy shoes or boots, or you cannot participate in your course.
Trousers/Jeans with holes are not permitted - you will be turned away.
ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST PROVIDE THEIR OWN HELMETS*** & GLOVES & ANY OTHER PPE EQUIPMENT (IF WET) TO MINIMISE THE RISK OF VIRAL INFECTIONS.
Please bring your own water bottle and pen etc for hygiene purposes.
** All participants must wear an approved helmet that meets the Australian Standard AS1698 or EU standards (UNECE22.05) in accordance with the Tasmanian Road Rules 2009 (must display a sticker to indicate this) during the Course.
Please note that the course will proceed regardless of weather. Trainer discretion will apply in Winter.
As lunch is not provided, we recommend that you bring your own lunch and a cool drink.

Participants must have completed the current MOTOR CYCLE Road Rules Knowledge Test at Service Tasmania prior to booking for the course.
If you wish to use your own Motorcycle; you must bring proof of registration and 3rd Party Property insurance (in addition to CTP on vehicle registration) on the day. Your motor cycle must be registered as LAMS approved - check your Registration papers to ensure this is so before the day. It MUST be roadworthy and at least 1/2 tank of fuel for the assessment.

Course options
If you do not have any experience on a motor cycle we recommend you undertake a One-on-One course (1 hr session) with just you and the Instructor to gain some skills and basic knowledge before you undertake the Pre-Learner licence course.
Training requirements
If you are wanting to use our scooter to obtain your 'Automatic only' licence you must make a note of this in the Comments section at time of registration as we have limited availability at each location. If there isnt one available you may be transferred to another course date or offered a manual bike instead.
Alternatively you can bring your own scooter.
